How is it possible, through a book, to grasp something that has taken place? How to capture an ephemeral sound, performative, and video artwork by a reading experience?
Simultaneously, experience of the image, critical reflection, and documentation, On y arrive à deux, à trois. On y arrive seule, habitée par les événements du monde. extends and deepens the very experience of the site-specific sound artworks Cinéma Moderne, novembre 2023 and Nous sommes au cinéma presented at Cinéma Moderne (Montreal) as part of the 2023 and 2024 Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) programs. Through the intertwined voices of a philosopher (Daniela Angelucci), a poet and essayist (Gabrielle Giasson-Dulude), two performers (Charles Hurtubise and Jane), and the artist herself (Julie Faubert), the states of the body and the states of thought that went through those artistic processes become book: a choral reading experience in which words and images merge together.
It is – above all – about connecting as closely as possible to the materiality of the world.
